Gregory J. Dyson


Chief Operating Officer, ICMA-RC

Gregory J. Dyson is chief operating officer of ICMA-RC, where he provides strategic direction and oversight of marketing, product management and development, public relations, and communications, and directs research. Mr. Dyson leads the development and management of ICMA-RC’s strategic alliances to expand distribution opportunities and increase market awareness. He also develops and maintains partnerships with various public sector and retirement industry organizations, including ICMA, National League of Cities, Government Finance Officers Association, and National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators.

At ICMA-RC, Mr. Dyson has successfully led the multi-year corporate re-branding campaign, and introduced new products and services that foster plan and participant retention. To support ICMA-RC product development activities, the research function has been expanded under his leadership to encompass more client-targeted and product specific surveys and focus groups.

Mr. Dyson is a member of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators Corporate Advisory Council and the ICMA Corporate Partner Council. He is the immediate past chair of the National League of Cities Corporate Partnership Advisory Council. He is an ICMA member and serves on the ICMA Strategic Planning Committee.

Before joining ICMA-RC in 2002, Mr. Dyson held marketing management positions with other national financial services organizations. He is a speaker on financial planning and retirement topics, and has authored articles for local government and public sector pension publications. He has served as chair of the Prince George’s County, MD, Industrial Development Authority and Prince George’s County Minority Business Opportunities Commission.

Mr. Dyson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and government from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s in business administration from Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia.
