The Center and Dr. Robert Clark of North Carolina State University recently concluded a pilot study, working with the North Carolina state treasurer and her office, on government employee financial education. This study looks at North Carolina state and local government employees and
- identifies gaps in the provision of financial information
- determines what types of information would be useful to enhance the financial literacy of public employees
- ascertains the best methods for delivering this type of information to a diverse public sector labor force.
The study will serve as the basis for future research the Center plans to conduct on financial education and related promising practices in state and local governments across the U.S.
