Webinar Series, Pt 3: Optimized Benefits and Compensation to Meet Employees’ Needs

August 24, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a reverberating impact on the health, employment, and financial outlook of public sector workforce employees, many of whom have been on the front lines throughout the crisis. These impacts, in turn, have only exacerbated the chronic challenge of recruiting and retaining employees who deliver essential public services.

Traditionally, state and local governments have relied on generous benefits packages, especially retirement plans and health insurance, to offset typically lower salaries in the public sector. At this stage in the pandemic recovery, the labor market is becoming more competitive, and public sector employers are continuing to adjust their retirement plan structures while dealing with financial constraints stemming from the pandemic. As a result, states and localities will need to focus on new strategies for attracting the next generation of public sector workers.

Join us for this last session in a three-part series of webinars from MissionSquare Research Institute, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and the Mejorando Group to discuss how states and localities can optimize benefits and compensation to gain a competitive advantage in recruitment and retention.

Webinar speakers include:

– Rivka Liss-Levinson, PhD, Sr. Research Manager, MissionSquare Research Institute (previously the Center for State and Local Government Excellence at ICMA-RC)

– Patrick Ibarra, Co-Founder & Partner of the Mejorando Group

– Jay Carlile, General Manager, State and Local Government, LinkedIn Talent Solutions

This is the third part of a series on Strategic Steps for Developing the Post-Pandemic State & Local Government Workforce.  Click here to view the first two parts of the webinar series:
