The Rebranded MissionSquare Research Institute Will Continue to Deliver Independent, Nonpartisan Research That Informs Organizations Dedicated to Public Service
The Center for State and Local Government Excellence at ICMA-RC is now MissionSquare Research Institute. The new brand name is in conjunction with ICMA-RC changing its name to MissionSquare Retirement.
Since its founding in 2007, the newly renamed MissionSquare Research Institute has become the go-to source for trusted, independent, nonpartisan research to help local and state governments attract and retain a talented public workforce. This year, that mission has expanded to include education, health care, and nonprofit organizations. MissionSquare Research Institute will continue to deliver research of interest to state and local leaders, particularly around the core priority areas of retirement, health and wellness, and workforce.
“We have a long history of working closely with MissionSquare Research Institute because their research has played an important role in helping strengthen the public workforce,” said MissionSquare Retirement CEO and President Lynne Ford. “By joining forces, we will have an even greater impact, reaching more sectors and covering more issues of importance to our clients who are dedicated to serving their communities.”
“Our expanded mission and becoming part of MissionSquare Retirement makes perfect sense at a time when more organizations are working together to provide essential services in communities across the nation. Yet, these organizations face critical challenges and emerging opportunities in developing a strong workforce for the future,” said Joshua Franzel, PhD, Managing Director of MissionSquare Research Institute. “Looking ahead, we will maintain our core research mission and independence, while this new structure will enable us to have an even deeper impact and broader reach.”
The new organizational name represents the growing diversity of the public service workforce and collaborations between public service organizations, while paying tribute to the community square — a place of gathering and partnership. Read more about MissionSquare Retirement here.
